Cavity QED and Quantum Computation in the Strong Coupling Regime II : Two Atoms Case

چکیده
In this paper we study the behavior of (laser–cooled) m–atoms trapped in a cavity interacting with a photon · · · Cavity QED · · · and attempt to solve the Schrödinger equation of this model in the strong coupling regime. In the case of m = 2 we construct Bell–Schrödinger cat states (in our terminology) and obtain with such bases some unitary transformations by making use of the rotating wave approximation under new resonance conditions containing the Bessel functions, which will be applied to construct important quantum logic gates in Quantum Computation. Moreover we propose in the case of m = 3 a crucial problem to solve on Quantum Computation.

Strong Interactions of Single Atoms and Photons in Cavity QED
An important development in modern physics is the emerging capability for investigations of dynamical processes for open quantum systems in a regime of strong coupling for which individual quanta play a decisive role. Of particular signiÐcance in this context is research in cavity quantum electrodynamics which explores quantum dynamical processes for individual atoms strongly coupled to the ele...
متن کاملTrapping of single atoms in cavity QED
By integrating the techniques of laser cooling and trapping with those of cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED), single Cesium atoms have been trapped within the mode of a small, high finesse optical cavity in a regime of strong coupling. The observed lifetime for individual atoms trapped within the cavity mode is τ ≈ 28ms, and is limited by fluctuations of light forces arising from the far-detu...

In this paper we propose a Hamiltonian generalizing the interaction of the two– level atom and both the single radiation mode and external field · · · a kind of cavity QED. We solve the Schrodinger equation in the strong coupling regime by making use of rotating wave approximation under new resonance conditions containing the Bessel functions and etc, and obtain unitary transformations of four ...

Recent experimental advances in the field of cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) have opened new possibilities for control of atom-photon interactions. A laser with “one and the same atom” demonstrates the theory of laser operation pressed to its conceptual limit [1]. The generation of single photons on demand and the realization of cavity QED with well defined atomic numbers N = 0,1,2, ... bo...
متن کاملEfficient atomic quantum memory for photonic qubits in cavity QED
We investigate a scheme of atomic quantum memory to store photonic qubits of polarization in cavity QED. It is observed that the quantum-state swapping between a single-photon pulse and a Λ-type atom can be made via scattering in an optical cavity [T. W. Chen, C. K. Law, P. T. Leung, Phys. Rev. A 69 (2004) 063810]. This swapping operates limitedly in the strong coupling regime for Λ-type atoms ...
